The Nevada-California-Oregon Railway was pleased to attend the Southern Pacific Historical & Technical Society convention in Sparks, Nevada.
This was a fitting place to share the N-C-O story. The original railway began in Reno, connected with the Southern Pacific, and later became part of the broader railroad history of northeastern California, northwestern Nevada, and southern Oregon.
N-C-O members hosted a booth, visited with railroad historians and modelers, displayed society materials, and introduced more people to the work taking place in Alturas. Maurice Walker gave a presentation on N-C-O history in Reno and the surviving structures connected to the railway. Shane Starr also provided an update on the society’s preservation efforts and long-term goals.
Events like this help us do more than talk to railroad enthusiasts. They help us build relationships, reach new members, share research, and remind the wider preservation community that the N-C-O story is still alive.
The N-C-O Railway is not just preserving artifacts. We are preserving the story of a railroad that helped shape communities across the region.
