This original 1881 injunction is one of the most significant historical documents preserved in the Society’s archives. Filed by Colonel Thomas Moore prior to the infamous September 27, 1881 stockholders' meeting, it sought to prevent the Nevada & Oregon Railroad Company’s directors from voting or transferring disputed shares of stock during a special meeting. The document provides a remarkable firsthand record of the legal battle that preceded the boardroom shooting and offers historians valuable insight into the struggle for control of the railroad during its earliest years. A typed transcription has also been provided to assist in reading the original handwritten document.
